Movie of the Week: City of Angels

  • Napakawalang kwenta ng pagkamatay ng character ni Meg Ryan ha. Katuwa tuwa bang mag bike nang hindi nakahawak sa manibela? (Bakit ba may manibela ang bike? Di ba para hawakan?) Pero sige pagbigyan, hindi sila pwede magkatuluyan ng anghel e di sige. Sana man lang nalaglag siya sa bangin o kaya sumabog yung bike. (Ala Pinoy telenovela, harharhar!)
  • Ano na pala nangyari kay Meg Ryan? Is she semi-retired or something?
  • Naaliw ako dun sa story nung matabang lalaki na pasyente ni Meagan kahit medyo corny. Actually corny yung film pero masaya naman din.
  • Siyempre unforgettable ang Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) at Uninvited (Alanis). Na summarize na sa Iris ang story nung movie, ang galing galing!
  • Kadiri yung biniyak ni Meagan yung dibdib ng pasyente tapos pinapatibok niya yung with her hands. To think nag Med Sci ako nung HS, hahaha.

Heroes of the Week: Pushers

Mabuhay ang mga Pushers! Oo DRUG ADDICT na ako! Sa wakas!

TANGA! By pusher I mean yung mga taong mahilig manulak, of course not in the literal sense because I would never ever consider people in the MRT as heroes. In fact gusto ko nga may maipatupad na batas na sunugin sa Luneta before an audience ang mga hayop na nanunulak sa MRT na yan.

May 2 Pushers ako na na encounter this week, isang Prof at isang mIRC chatter. 3 na kasi absences ko kay Prof! So ayun nung kumatok ako sa kanyang pinto para manghingi ng kopya ng assignment, kinausap niya ako. I heart her na talaga! Matalino, magaling magturo, tapos concerned pa sa estudyante talaga!

Then words of wisdom started coming out of her mouth. Napaka inspiring ng mga sinabi niya. Siguro ganun talaga ang buhay, when you feel like shit someone will rescue you and give you not just hope but INSPIRATION as well. Medyo nakonsensya naman ako kaya go na sa library at lahat ng books for that class hiniram ko na. I just can’t let that Prof down, never. Though pushing is pakikialam din (which I abhor), at least ito may positive effects di gaya ng mga meddlesome creatures na gusto lang talaga makialam kasi trip lang nila.

About mIRC chatter naman, masaya makipag usap sa mga taong di mo kilala at maglabas ng sama ng loob. They make you feel that you’re not so alone. Kahit alam natin na nakiki empathize lang sila because they think they have to, ok na rin yung little inspiration na nakukuha sa kanila to cheer you up.

Sana lahat ng morons na makakasalamuha ko araw araw maging pushers para naman maging mas maligaya ang buhay. Oh well, dream on?

Showbiz: Apocalypto, that film about the nearing demise of the Maya empire, filmed in Yucatec (Maya language), and directed by that alcoholic Jewish basher, earned $15 Million on its opening weekend with Happy Feet trailing it closely in 2nd place. Nakita ko na ang trailer ng Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah. Bakit mas nabigyan pa ng exposure ang extrang si Pauleen Luna kesa sa character ni Aling Britney?

Work: Hindi ako makakasali sa Christmas Party kasi aalis na ako! Mukhang masaya pa naman tapos nagpa plano na sila ng mga production numbers, hahaha. Di tuloy ako maka relate! Kawawa naman ako… Pahinga naman! Hehe.

Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah: Namatay ako sa katatawa, kagabi lang ako nabuhay ulit. Ang kulit ng dialogues. One particularly funny scene was the transformation of the Amazonistas, halos 9 pages ata ang nasakop tapos binato lang sila ni Zaturnnah ng pick-up ba yun or truck afterwards. Ang kulit. Php240 lang! Bili na! The play w/ Eula Valdez as Zsa Zsa will have reruns this January ‘07 sa UPD.

Academics: Three days lang ang pasok. Tinamad na ang Profs for Thursday kaya nag goodbye na sila nung Monday. Actually yung isa hindi nag goodbye, nawala na lang bigla, lol. Natuwa na rin ako na nawala na lang bigla yung isa kasi medyo suspense thriller yung oral recitation niya. Kapag di ka nakasagot kakanta ka. E hindi ako nagre review. Paano na lang yun kung tawagin niya ako tapos di ako makasagot? E di kakanta ako di ba? E paano kung may talent scout bigla na dumaan? Paano kung ma discover ako? Masisira ang pag aaral ko di ba? Kaya ayun, salamat Prof sa iyong biglang pagkawala, see you next year pag nabasa ko na lahat ng readings mo, hehehe. Absent naman ako nung Tuesday kasi trip ko lang mag absent. Isa nga sa mga Prof ng classes na yun yung Pusher na nakausap ko nung Wednesday after the in-class essay sa Southeast Asian Studies class. =)

Future: Plan A (2nd-Degree-In-Economics Plan) shelved. Plan B (Work-In-An-Embassy-For-2-Years Plan) shelved. Current plan = Plan C (Lamierda-Sa-Europa Plan) Apr 08 = Graduation; May 08 – Jun 08 = Tambay; Jul 08 = Università di Bologna Italian Summer Intensive Class: Scholarship, alam ko nag o offer ang Italian embassy and they are just one jeepney ride away! Harharhar!; Aug 08 = Leiden University Dutch Intensive Summer Class: Sariling gastos, kamusta naman aabutin kaya ng 100,000 pesos ang tuition+lodging+gastos, plane ticket papunta hindi problema kasi Italy na manggagaling sagot ata ng scholarship yun, tren na lang yan na may kamahalan din pero kaya. The ticket back to the Philippines ang problema. Singapore Airlines is the airline nearest that offers flights at ang Schiphol-NAIA flight ay nasa 40,000 pesos; Sep 08 = tambay; Oct 08 – May 09 = Universidad de Salamanca 8-Month Diploma in Spanish Language and Culture: BECASMAE! Scholarship na naman, wish ko lang tumatanggap sila ng hindi EL majors, hello e baka may DELE Superior na ko by this time; Jun 09 = tambay; Jul 09 = Sorbonne University Paris IV Intensive Summer Class: May scholarship din yan, harharhar! Aug 09 – Sep 09 = tambay; Oct 09 – May 10 = Universidade de Coimbra 8-Month diploma in Portuguese Language and Culture: Scholarship ulit? Movie of the Week: The Silence of the Lambs

  • Anthony Hopkins delivers a very believable portrayal of a psycho. I think this is his scariest best performance, thanks to the psycho stares.
  • I like the way Hannibal says the name of Jodie Foster’s character. I can’t describe it, somewhat weird, eerie, and sophisticated all at the same time.
  • Jodie Foster was good too. I think both lead actors deserved the Best Actor Oscars they got pero kahit maikli lang ang role ni Hannibal mas memorable ang character niya kung tutuusin.
  • Jodie got her second Best Actress Oscar for this one. 15 years na ang nakakaraan, when will she get her third one?
  • Sa mga nakanood na at nakabasa ng novel, which is better? This makes me want to read the novel, alam ko may prequel at 2 sequels na e.
  • Too bad pinalitan ni Julianne Moore si Jodie Foster sa sequel…
  • Galing ng escape ni Hannibal from temporary prison, talino talaga, hehe.
  • Magandang film kasi psycho thriller, heart-stopping talaga.

Motto of the Week: Hate Me, Love Me, Judge Me, But Never Ever Piss Me Off!

Isang axe-kick lang ang katapat mo, na no da!

In life maraming mahaderong nilalang na susubukang impluwensiyahan ang buhay mo, pag uusapan ka, huhusgahan ka. Ok lang sa akin yun. As human beings I believe it is in our nature to judge people in an instant. Gaya ng sabi ko ok lang yun sa akin. Ikaw ba pag may nakasalubong kang mukhang addict sa MRT iba background check mo pa siya bago mo siya husgahan? Siyempre hindi na, instant judgment na yun, parang instant noodles. Ang akin lang wag akong pakikialaman. Ok lang sa akin yung: “Uy bakit si (insert name here) ganyan, bakit siya ganun. Uy alam mo si (insert name here) ganyan, ganun.” Feedback yan.

Pero wag na wag mong gagawin sa akin ang ganito: “Hoy (insert name here) bakit ka ganyan, bakit ka ganun? Baguhin mo nga itong ganyan, wag ka ngang ganun.” Grr, this makes my blood boil. Pag usapan niyo na ko pero don’t try to affect my life directly because no one is qualified to do so.

E anak ng pechay Baguio ka, sino ka ba sa tingin mo? Hinayupak ka.

Galit na galit ako ng pinakikialaman ako, whatever form it might take basta pakikialam ayokong ayoko. Mahaba naman ang pasensya ko e kaso kahit ang bulkang isang milenyo nang dormant paminsan minsan bigla na lang din sumasabog. Wala lang, warning… Hehehe. If I wanted a director for the very complicated movie which is my life, I would look for him/her myself. No need to apply because I will find you whoever you are. Hay buhay. Tsk tsk tsk.

Showbiz: Britney teams up with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan to party and flash her uhm… womanhood… Medyo delayed na but Aubrey and Partner got eliminated from the Amazing Race Asia competition already; two Filipino teams tanggal in two consecutive weeks. Maricel Soriano’s Inang Yaya performs poorly in Box Office, bakit ba nagfa flop ang mga quality movies natin?!

Work: I don’t like talking to Mexican women, at least that one variant of the whole population. Sila yung mga mabibilis magsalita tapos mataas ang pitch ng boses. Siyempre meron ding mga Brazilian counterparts. If you watch undubbed versions of Mexican telenovelas, you are sure to find one of them. Mas masaya kausap yung mga matatanda na normal lang magsalita tapos malalambing pa. May monito monita sa work at siyempre may Christmas Party rin kaso di ako makaka attend! =( Parami na kami ng parami sa office… Crowded na? Hehehe… Tinawagan ng call center na unang in apply-an for full-time Spanish agent. Matapos niyo ako paghintayin ng 1 buwan na ni wala man lang tawag? Manigas kayo! I’m happy na with current job. Gained new friendsboth here and abroad, masaya ang work environment, malapit sa inuuwian ko. Manigas kayo!

Bookstore: Nanggaling ako sa Fully Booked Rockwell, halos himatayin ako sa foreign language books collection nila. Goodbye Powerbooks na talaga! Hehehe. Halos kumpleto sila sa mga Language for Dummies titles tapos maraming hard-to-find books lalo na yung Spanish versions ng ilang books kaso yung mga kay Allende lang ang available. Mas mahal nga lang ng kaunti kaysa sa Powerbooks.

Maging Sino Ka Man: Di ko siya napapanood sa TV, sa Youtube ko pinapanood. Ang galing ng mga linya, memorable! Magaling pa ang mga artista lalo na sila Anne Curtis (We love you Celine!!!) at Chin-Chin Gutierrez. Ang di lang matino dito si Sam Milby. Iisa lang ang facial expression niya tapos ang eng eng pa magbitaw ng linya e English na nga halos lahat ng mga linya niya..

Academics: Wala halos pasok nung Tuesday at ganun din nung Friday. Convocation yata or something. E paano naman yun e di sigurado ang daming make-up class sessions niyan! Wala lang, tapos wala man lang formal announcements the day before, pumapasok pa tuloy mga estudyante kahit wala naman palang pasok. Nakakainis. Nakakatamad na nga tapos ganyan pa.

Life: The future is vague. Life has a way of uhm… playing with me? One day it would make me feel happy for no reason, maybe for the mere fact of being alive only to wake up the other day feeling like shit. And of course there are external factors as well. I wake up one morning with a very very bad news. I wake up the next morning with news that would bring a little hope and counter the former. And then the next morning I would wonder all day if I should risk depending too much on that little hope I have (for having experienced it before and failing miserably) but realizing that I really don’t have a choice but to hold on to it. I don’t know. It is all too weird, overwhelming, complicated. Sometimes it’s just fun to escape from reality and depend on the oh too dependable power of books, movies, and TV, hehehe. Escapism at its best.

Movie of the Week: Happy Feet

  • Dancing penguins. Singing penguins. Is this a musical?
  • The story is all abut a penguin who can’t sing and is viewed as different because he can’t. That’s about it.
  • Buti na lang nagboses si Robin Williams. Ramon the Latino penguin was hilarious, ang kulit ng mga hirit.
  • What’s your heartsong? Yun ang tagline. Kasi ang mga penguin daw kumakanta. Si Mumble Happyfeet sumasayaw.
  • Hindi ko nagustuhan… Pero HAPPY naman talaga ang movie. If you want to be entertained then go ahead and watch it.
  • It’s kinda funny that James Bond got beaten by a bunch of singing penguins in the NABO.
  • Ang galing magsayaw ng mga penguins, isali nga natin sa UAAP CDC next year, ako ang manager ha. Hehehe.
  • Bakit iba ang itsura ni Mumble? Bakit? Bakit?

Addiction of the Week: Fushigi Yuugi

Bumili ako ng pirated DVD ng Fushigi Yuugi! Unfortunately out of the 8 isa lang ang matinong gumagana. Papapalitan ko pa. Anyway addict na ako ulit sa Fushigi Yuugi. May manga na pala na Genbu Kaiden! Remember the priestess of Genbu and those two guys Miaka encounters to get the Genbu shinzaho? Sila Tomite at Hikitsu? Well may sarili na silang istorya ngayon. Mukhang mas complicated. This time galit sa kanila ang taongbayan kasi salot ang tingin sa kanila kaya kick-ass chick ang priestess of Genbu. As usual na in love pa rin siya sa isa sa Genbu 7 pero ang twist e parang Ranma yung love interest niya. In order to use his powers of the wind he must transform into a woman first. Saan ako makakahanap ng manga nito? Help! Addict na ako dito!

Politics: Ang alam ko lang magkakaroon ng bagong Supreme Court Justice ba? Si Miriam Defensor Santiago ang isa sa mga pinagpipilian yata. Meron pang isang babaeng candidate (parang Miss Universe, hahaha) kaya malamang magkaroon na tayo ng unang babae na Supreme Court Justice. Hindi ko alam kung Supreme Court Justice, basta Supreme Court, bwahahaha…

Showbiz: Natapos na ang Crazy for You. Sino dito ang nakanood ng ending? Bakit namatay daw si Janice? Matatapos na rin ang Pinoy Dream Academy (About time!) Ang papalit ay Goong, (Princess Hours) story about an alternate modern South Korea where a monarchy exists, seems interesting. Ipapasok na ng GMA ang Starstruck 4 anytime soon. Yun lang ang nabalitaan ko.

Work: Aba aba naglagay na ang mga supervisor ng number of cases handled by each agent every day at nakapaskil pa sa bulletin board ha. This is a new challenge kasi nabulgar na sa lahat ang performance mo. Rest day ko nung 1st day. 3rd place ako nung 2nd day. 1st ako nung 3rd day (angas!). Rest day uli ang 4th day. Bring it on! Hahaha. At least hindi na uber boring ngayon di ba!

Language: For the nth time nagsimula na ako ulit mag-aral ng French. Intensive Portuguese ako for the last few weeks kaya great relief itong French. I just can’t get rid of the notion that Portuguese is a very gay language, and by “gay” I don’t mean “happy” but “homo”. Maybe it’s because of the palatalizations, but Russian has way more palatalizations but it doesn’t sound gay to me. Ewan.

New Term/Fushigi Yuugi: NA NO DA = Ya know! Chichiri always adds this after every sentence, kahit seryoso. Nakakaaliw, na no da! Wahehehe. Am I the only one who thinks that Soi should be the gay seishi and not Nuriko? Mas mukha siyang bading, na no da. Tapos boses bakla pa siya, na no da. I hate Hotohori, parang pipitikin lang ni Nakago sa tenga mamamatay na.

Academics: Three days lang naman ako pumasok dahil sa Thursday typhoon suspension/Friday holiday combo. I’m bored with school. So far ang nae enjoy ko lang ay yung Wednesday class about Southeast Asia. Ang saya saya tapos kahit di ako mag notes natatandaan ko ang lecture kasi interesting ang topic. Interesting din naman yung iba kaso… Medyo mas toxic sila… Hehehe.

Future: Hello, who would want three more semesters of torture after graduation? Economics? Nahihibang ka na ba. Ayoko no. Basta after graduation stay for two to three years in the country. Better to work in an embassy for training. Instead of studying part-time, just keep the part-time call center job. Studying is fun but it has its limits too so please shut up about it already!

Surroundings: Bumagyo ulit this week. Reming naman ang pangalan niya ngayon. Hindi siya kasing lakas ni Milenyo. Actually mas malakas ata dapat siya e. Medyo baliw lang tong isang to kasi hindi malaman kung saan pupunta, lihis ng lihis. Kaya ang ending hindi masyadong naramdaman sa Metro Manila o baka dahil tulog lang ako maghapon kaya hindi ko naramdaman.
